Plato believed that our own personal ideology was surrounded by certain spheres of ideas/influence, once more information comes along and present facts/evidence on a new truth, people will change what they see in those spheres and follow the better informed sphere, even if it goes totally against the previous sphere people believed before.

An example: people before 1880, people believed that disease was caused by pollution and bad smells, then the germ theory arose and we now better understand disease better, better information arose, people changed the sphere of belief to the new understanding.

Another philosopher came along and presented new idea that turns that Plato belief on its head. People have their personal ideology and choose what sphere of influence they choose to follow. People when presented any topics/issues, they will only accept those that that people want to believe. Even if presented with another with facts/evidence, they will cling on to what they see as true (whether they are or not).

Take US News:

Person B watches news B

Person A watches news A

Person C watches news C

Each person will consume their information from their own perspective and reject the others. If more evidence is presented on one, it does not matter, people will cling to their own sphere of influence and become that persons ideology.

Take religion (small sample);

Person A decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person B decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person C decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person D decides to follow the Son of the God of Abraham,

Person E decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person F decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person G decides to follow the God of Abraham,

Person H decides to follow no God.

If that sounds redundant…..

Person A = Jewish

Person B = Catholic

Person C = Islamic

Person D = Christian

Person E = Druzism

Person F = Samaritanism

Person G = Rastafari

Person H = Atheist

Each will have their sphere that each sees correct, if presented another sphere, they will reject it. Sometimes even presented the same sphere, they will reject it…but that is a topic for another day….

There are many other spheres of influence that makes up a person ideology, and they will not change any spheres of influence unless they WANT to change. No matter how much evidence is presented in front of them, they can not be forced to change. Anyone reading, what sphere of influence that affects ideology that no matter what (no amount of evidence), you are NEVER going to change ?
